Blog Project

The Blog/Website Project

One aspect of effective teaching and learning is the active participation of students, both in the classroom and outside the classroom. This project is designed to have students participate in course activities in a unique way: through online blogging. Blog is used widely by information technology professionals for information sharing and informal knowledge contribution. In this class, each student group will create a group blog site and contribute to the discussion by writing something relevant to the course subjects, and giving active feedback to other’s blog as well. This informal writing (compared to term papers) is an effective and efficient way of learning and knowledge sharing.

In addition, as part of the advanced web class in which we focus on Web 2.0, social media, and mobile web design, each team will also practice developing small websites using major blog/CMS platforms including Blogger and WordPress.

Project objectives

  1. Write professional blogs focusing on web applications and technologies.
  2. Interact with bloggers/readers using common social networking tools and techniques.
  3. Develop a Web 2.0 and mobile friendly team blog site using popular Blog/CMS platforms.
